From ECCE to ECCE Innovation

ECCE Innovation is a European network focused on the exchange and transfer of expertise, knowledge and experience related to creative industries in European cities. This European project was co-financed by the European Union for 3 years (2009-2011).

It follows up on the ECCE Project (2005-2008) that put in place a European network of cities and resources centres dedicated to the professional development of creative entrepreneurs and artists.

The Ecce Innovation Project sought to promote and develop new markets for creative entrepreneurs and small businesses in the creative, artistic and cultural fields. It aims to accelerate innovative B2B linkages, to increase the involvement of creative SME in public procurement bids as well as to promote new investment schemes for the creative sector and to develop innovative partnerships between creative industries, higher education and research.

To promote these new connections Ecce Innovation has established and trained a network of transfer agents that now operates across the partner regions to support and advise creative actors and businesses. Additional tools to help realise creative ideas and turn them into successful businesses and projects are: an Ecce Innovation Award and a system of creative vouchers that support access to knowledge, research and mobility for creative entrepreneurs.

The project promotes an interdisciplinary approach within higher education, with pilot projects to sponsor joint teaching methods amongst higher education institutes in the creative field and to develop a new European Art-Business post master training course based in Nantes.
